Cross-country skiing at Lemonsjøen
The winter landscape in Jotunheimen is wild and varied. Around Lemonsjøen, there are cross-country skiing tours to suit everyone - young and old!
Cross-country skiing at Lemonsjøen
The ski trails in the Lemonsjø area offer great conditions for everyone - regardless of fitness and shape. Here you can choose short or long tours and easy or more demanding trails. The terrain varies between gentle forests and rugged mountains. The trails are groomed and maintained between December and April, depending on weather and snow conditions. Most of the trails in the area have double tracks and some sections adapted for ice skating.
A classic is the round around Lemonsjøen, 14 km in beautifully varied terrain - views of Glittertind in Jotunheimen and Rondeslottert in Rondane spice up the experience! Extend your trip and take in the super cozy shelter at Megardsåsen, the cultural landscape around Sandranden and Klonessetra. On windy days, we recommend the hike to Slombsetrene, 6km in a fairytale forest - the black wooden fox assures you of absolutely clean air! For longer hikes, you can take the Gråhø round trip, over to Brimi or the Jotunheimen trail that stretches all the way to Gjende. The Mån light trail system is great, even during the day. 1 and 2 km training laps, ski cross, dosed toboggan run and shelter. The facility is located 10km from the mountain lodge in the direction of Vågå.
Vågåfjell Turløypelag is responsible for trail running in the area. Information about trails, updated trail information and maps can be found at skisporet.no/lemonsjø. Paper maps are also available at Lemonsjø Fjellstue & Hyttegrend. The trail team also has its own Facebook page with lots of great photos, check in for fresh impressions!
All cabins and rooms belonging to Fjellstua are perfectly located for cross-country skiing - ski in/ski out!
Photographer Terje Rakke /Nordic Life visited us 4. February 2016. The weather was fresh, 20 meters of wind, -14 degrees, a hint of sun. Terje Jonny Sveen and Kjersti Nystuen, local ski enthusiasts, took him on a trip that resulted in the great pictures here!
